Announcing the new date and venue of the 2025 BuildGreen Saskatchewan Conference.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Regina, April 22, 2025) - Today is Earth Day, and we are excited to announce a new milestone for the conference.
The planning committee is excited to announce that the 2025 building decarbonization conference will be hosted at the University of Regina main campus on November 12 & 13, 2025. Additional details about the venue will be provided in on the conference website at www.buildgreenprairie.com.
The goal of this conference is to bring all stakeholders, including government agencies and regulators, utility providers, members of the design & construction teams, first nations communities, building owners and operators and maintenance personnel together to address how we decarbonize our building sector in Saskatchewan. The closer we get to the energy sharing of natural ecosystems, the less energy waste there will be in the systems we build.
Saskatchewan has a particular challenge, with an energy emission factor of 660 grams CO2e/KWH compared to the national average of 100 g/kWh. Our approach will be different from that of other provinces.
The purpose of the BuildGreen Saskatchewan conference strongly aligns with the values of the University of Regina through its 2022-2027 Sustainability Action Plan and overall commitment to learning excellence.
Hosting the conference on the University of Regina’s grounds will foster strong community, collaboration and partnership which are one of the framework of sustainable development.
The built environment is an important part of the sustainability on earth, as we celebrate this day, let us reflect on the importance of the built environment, responsible resource management, and innovation in sustainable design.
Together, we can build a healthier, greener Saskatchewan and contribute to a more sustainable world.
